TIGER SHARKS

The Tiger Sharks raised an amazing £85 for waterAid

On the May bank holiday weekend the Tiger Sharks entered the Aberystwyth Sevens and played some fantastic rugby.  Reaching the quarter finals was a big step forward for the team.  The most pleasing thing for the players the number of tries that they scored and the way they were able to move the ball with ease; something head coach Stu Rogers has introduced to the side.  On top of the fantastic rugby the Tiger Sharks also raised a fantastic amount of money for waterAid.  The players can focus on their training for France knowing they have a lot to build on.

Debuts

The Tiger Sharks have some additional players added to their quiver!  Australian Sam Leitch made his debut at the Aberystwyth Sevens and made a worthy contribution.  Gareth Lewis, Tom Savage and John Harris have all also joined the Tiger Sharks.  John Harris who has been a possible player for a while agreed to joining the Tiger Sharks. He will be touring France with the Tiger Sharks in June.

Tiger Sharks training camp 2009 destination set

The Tiger Sharks will under go a grueling and tough training camp in Normandy from 14th to the 21st of June 2009. This will take place under the watchful eye of retired Royal Marine commando Lt Col Parks.  Last years training camp was a massive success so the Tiger Sharks will hope for more of the same.  The camp will consist of training to fit all the different aspects of the modern sevens rugby player.  Whilst fitness will be emphasised, defence and offence will also receive a lot of attention.  Everything from the diet of each player, to the number of hours rest needed for each player will be carefully considered.  The training will involve hard conditioning sessions on the beach, as well as contact training at the training facility itself.  The Tiger Sharks will be staying at the the Chateau du Bealieu, situated about 30mins south of Cherboug, very close to the D-Day landing beaches.  As well as playing rugby, the team will have a chance to experience some of the local culture, such as a visit to the historical town of Mont Saint Micheal.
